A little outdated for a system this sweet.

GTA 4 was supposed to be the game everyone will be playing for years. But the first day I got it, the game already started getting old. From the crappy controls, to the fairly slow gameplay, on and offline. Too much hype around games like these make people believe that games are better than they truly are. Don't get me wrong, the game is fun in small doses. Even 16 players online can be annoying and boring. If you want endless fun that will have you playing till the sequels out, go buy Call of Duty 4 and be amazed at it's intricate online and offline modes. No first person shooter has done it this well or this addicting. INFINITY WARD are Geniuses! I love you! No one has made a game with the bar set as high as COD4.

This is easily the best game in the series, and a strong contender for game of the year for 2008. This game takes everything great about the GTA series and makes it twice as serious and ten times as detailed. The little things add up to something greater than expected. You can snap the axles on your vehicles, semi trucks blow smoke when you hear them shift, you have to pay tolls (unless you are driving a city vehicle), and citizens react uniquely based on the situation and their demeanor. These are but a taste of the attention to detail in this game. The missions are great, you have a nice mix of incredibly easy and frustratingly tough. Relationships add a new aspect but can get kind of annoying, like when you are in the middle of a mission and a friend calls to go bowling or something. Of course, the radio stations are as good as ever. Don't believe the haters, there is a diverse array of music available. The only fault I see with this game is that the story is kind of contrived there are some underlying themes but you don't feel a connection compared to a game like, say, Bioshock. Also, don't listen to these foolish reviewers saying "you can play it if you are 9 or 10 " they are saying this to either be funny or stupid. This game is clearly intended for a mature audience, as it deals heavily with drugs, sex, murder, and various other aspects of a criminal lifestyle. One of the best titles available for the 360 right now.

Great series

Ah yes, the GTA series. I remember the first time I played a GTA game. It was GTA3 and I was but a nitwitted 10 year old boy. Those were the days! Anywho, though this game drops many of the features from San Andreas (no jetpack, no army chasing you at 6 stars, no bicycles, no parachutes, no planes) It still provides an excellent gaming experience. The story in this game is much more seriously presented than previous Grand Theft Auto's but it still takes place in the same ridiculous/low-brow humored world. (Ricky Gervais makes an appearance though which is a little strange) I haven't played online to much but I enjoyed my experience. There was a ton of lag online but that is to be expected when you are playing with 15 other people in a crowded city. 5/5 great game, great fun. I recommend it to anyone 9 years old or older.

My "nitwit" comment was referring to a reviewer who posted on 10/13/2007 saying:
"4/5 it was good
i reccomend it to all ages. as long as you are 10 or up."
--A. The game wasn't out yet, so how can he say "it was good?"
--B. The game is rated "M" for mature audiences. Ya know, ages 17 and up. To recommend this game for a person as young as 10 years old is simply ridiculous.
Being that this is the FOURTH installment in a franchise that is characterized by free-roaming gameplay, missions, car-jacking, cop-killing, violence, and sexual content, I think it was safe to assume that Grand Theft Auto IV --FOUR-- would share similar gameplay and features. Now that I HAVE played it, I can say my assumptions were correct and my opinion still stands.
Trying reading carefully next time Jake before you make YOURSELF look like a nitwit by trying to "defend" an overhyped game, you nitwit.
