Description

The Star Wars saga continues in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. You are Darth Vader&;apos;s Secret Apprentice! The Dark Lord of the Sith himself has trained you to use a lightsaber and unleash the power of the Force, but now your destiny is your own. Will you join Vader as the next great Sith, or will you choose to defend peace and justice as a noble Jedi Knight? The expansive story, created under direction from George Lucas, is set during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.

Special Features:

  • As its name implies, The Force Unleashed completely re-imagines the scope and scale of the Force by taking full advantage of newly developed technologies that will be seen and experienced for the first time: Digital Molecular Matter (DMM), by Pixelux Entertainment, and euphoria by NaturalMotion Ltd. Paired with the powerful Havok Physics™ system, these new technologies create gameplay only possible on the new generation of consoles. DMM incorporates the physical properties of anything in the environment so that everything reacts exactly like it should - wood breaks like wood, glass shatters like glass, plants on the planet Felucia bend like plants on the planet Felucia would, and more. Meanwhile, as a revolutionary behavioral-simulation engine, euphoria enables interactive characters to move, act and even think like actual human beings, adapting their behavior on the fly and resulting in a different payoff every single time. During the period between Episodes III and IV, players hunt Jedi in the role of Darth Vader&;apos;s Secret Apprentice. Unleash and upgrade the Secret Apprentice&;apos;s four core Force powers - Force push, grip, repulse and lightning - throughout the course of the game, and combine them for ultra-destructive, never-before-seen combos. Examples of unleashing the Force in ways never thought possible: - The Secret Apprentice won&;apos;t just Force push enemies into walls - he&;apos;ll Force push enemies through walls. - The Secret Apprentice won&;apos;t just Force grip foes to throw them aside - he&;apos;ll Force grip them in midair, zap them with lightning, then drop them to the ground to explode like a bomb. In addition to new adversaries created just for the game, such as fugitive Jedi and Force-sensitive Felucians, players will also confront and associate with familiar faces from the Star Wars films, including Darth Vader. Visit locations such as Episode III&;apos;s Wookiee homeworld Kashyyyk and the floral Felucia, the junk planet Raxus Prime, plus an Imperial TIE fighter construction facility. Decisions made by players throughout the game will determine the path of the story, including multiple endings that will rock Star Wars continuity as they know it. The Force Unleashed is LucasArts&;apos; first internally developed title for next-generation consoles, and it represents the first in-game collaboration of talents and technology between LucasArts and Industrial Light &; Magic, two companies now finally under one roof at the new Letterman Digital Arts Center in San Francisco&;apos;s Presidio district. The Force Unleashed debuts Digital Molecular Matter from Pixelux and euphoria behavioral simulation from NaturalMotion Ltd. LucasArts is preparing an unprecedented promotional effort around the launch of The Force Unleashed, encompassing a full line of toys and game-based action figures from Hasbro, as well as a full publishing program from Dark Horse, Del Rey and Palace Press.

June 29, 2009: This game (or at least the script) won an award for best story. So why didn't it help the game?

Gameplay: You play as Dark Vader's unnamed appentice and you use the force well. Watching Stromtroopers reach for each other in attempt to help when you force grab them is great, but that is one of the high points.

Even for the PS3, this game is loaded with glitches, bugs and awful mechanics. I cheated and played from the beggining with a friends (accomplished) saved file. I sky glitched (passed through wall, and fell through the sky for 10-15 seconds, till the game decided to consider it a death) twice within 10 min.

The lock on system is unique and you understand what they were going for, but actually trying to use it was hard and not worth it. I was better off slashing at random and using the force when no opponents were around.

Music/Voice: You play any Star Wars game, you've heard the music. No highly original score was used for this game. I guess since the game is based before Episode IV, it helps the connection to the story as a whole. Voices for the people are good. It sounds like actual conversations and not blocky acting, anticipating the next line in a script. I was entertained with the dark humor of "Apprentice" and Proxy (his driod).

Reply/Own: Beat it once, and you can start again with all your powers. You can finish any upgrades, search for collectable, and try for the alternet ending. I read the story via comic and novel, the game didn't dissapoint in that field, it was actully getting through it that was the problem. RENT IT/PASS (if you want to know the story, read the comic or novel).

September 25, 2008: Dear GOD.... Alright, I'll do this review by simply detailing my experience from beginning to end: Upon inserting this disk into my tray, I couldnt help but notice a slight anxiety building up in my bowels, but I continued in spite of this. After a few minutes of installing the game, I came to the title screen, at which time I involuntarily vomited a small amount of stomach acid into my mouth. After rinsing my mouth repeatedly, I arrived back that the title screen intending to actually play the title, but was thwarted by the smell of what seemed to be fecal matter coming from my drawers. Upon realizing that I had deficated myself, I rushed to the can as quickly as I could. Once I returned for the second time, the game had gone into a Demo Mode, during which I was treated to a bright display of in-game footage. This is where things get a little fuzzy... The last thing I remember after this was waking up on the floor in a puddle of my own urine with a paramedic standing over me yelling for a defibulator. I briefly recall wretching and dry heaving a few times before fading back out of consciousness. If there is anything to learn from my experience, its to stay FAR away from this game.
